Amazon Web Services has filed plans for twelve additional data-centre buildings across three Texas locations, adding new developments at Fort Stockton and Floydada while expanding its planned campus at Boling.
Amazon Data Services has submitted filings covering three buildings at a project north of Fort Stockton in Pecos County and three at Floydada, northeast of Lubbock. A further six buildings have been filed for the company’s Boling development southwest of Houston.
The Fort Stockton records were registered on 4 August, while the Floydada and sampled Boling expansion filings were registered on 5 August. A consolidated specialist report published on 7 August brought the three locations together.
The Fort Stockton filings list three buildings of approximately 189,060 sq ft each with estimated construction values of $300m per building. Construction is scheduled in the filings to run from August to December 2026.
At Floydada, the Horizon Junction development includes three similarly sized facilities, again with estimated values of $300m each. The filings indicate work from August 2026 into April 2027.
Amazon has also expanded its Project Eagle plans at Boling with six additional buildings. Those applications describe facilities of roughly the same size and estimated construction value, with the new tranche scheduled between September 2026 and September 2027.
The filings are construction estimates rather than final project expenditure, and they do not disclose the IT capacity or electrical load of each building. They nevertheless provide physical evidence of Amazon’s continuing Texas development pipeline.
Building filings follow the power hunt
Texas has become one of the most active data-centre development markets in the US, but the scale of proposed electricity demand is putting greater scrutiny on projects seeking grid connections. State authorities are examining large-load applications against the capacity of the transmission system and the cost of infrastructure required to serve them.
That changes the weight attached to a building filing. Construction plans can demonstrate that a project has moved beyond land acquisition, but the delivery date still depends on power. A completed shell without an energised utility connection does not create usable cloud or AI capacity.
Amazon is pursuing multiple Texas strategies at once. Some projects are conventional grid-connected campuses, while its Pecos County activity also involves plans for large-scale private generation. The combination shows how hyperscalers are building portfolios of sites rather than relying on a single power-delivery model.
Fort Stockton is particularly notable because Amazon has other large infrastructure activity in Pecos County. It is not yet clear whether the newly filed data-centre buildings are connected to other named developments in the area, and the filings should not be treated as proof that separate projects are part of the same campus.
The construction values are similarly best read as regulatory estimates. At $300m per building, the twelve applications imply several billion dollars of physical construction, but those figures do not necessarily include the full cost of servers, network equipment, utility works, generation, land, or other campus infrastructure.
The repetition of the building format is itself useful. Standardising large data halls can shorten design and procurement work across multiple markets, allowing operators to reuse electrical and mechanical architectures while adapting the site infrastructure around local power and cooling conditions.
The next constraint will be how quickly the Texas electricity system, or alternative generation arrangements, can support the buildings being filed. Amazon can progress land, permits, and construction simultaneously, but the capacity becomes commercially useful only when the electrical programme reaches the same point.
