German data-centre planner TTSP HWP and Irish architecture practice MCA Architects have completed their merger and launched under the Hyceon name, creating a broader European design, engineering, permitting, and project-management group focused heavily on digital infrastructure.

Hyceon brings the two businesses together under one operating identity following a combination first announced in December 2025. The group is positioning itself as an integrated adviser capable of taking projects from site evaluation and permitting through architecture, engineering, sustainability work, and delivery.

The merger links two practices with different but complementary positions in the European market. Frankfurt-based TTSP HWP developed a general-planning model spanning architecture, engineering, project management, permitting, and technical advisory work. Dublin-based MCA Architects built a substantial track record in hyperscale and colocation facilities for large technology clients.

Hyceon says the combined organisation has more than 270 specialists and experience across more than 10GW of data-centre projects. Its European work spans markets including Germany, Ireland, the UK, the Nordics, France, Spain, Poland, Italy, and Portugal.

The exact corporate statistics displayed across Hyceon’s newly launched web estate are still being standardised, so this article uses the dated launch figures rather than inconsistent live counters elsewhere on the site.

Design groups scale with European campuses

The transaction reflects the changing requirements placed on data-centre design and engineering advisers. Large European projects increasingly need to coordinate site selection, power strategy, planning, environmental assessments, architecture, mechanical and electrical design, and construction programmes across several jurisdictions.

Those disciplines were once more easily divided among separate consultants. The growth of hyperscale campuses and increasingly constrained grid connections has pushed more decisions towards the front of the development cycle. A site can lose years if grid, permitting, cooling, or environmental assumptions are discovered too late.

Hyceon’s stated model is intended to reduce those interfaces by keeping more of the development lifecycle inside one group. Its service lines include feasibility and due diligence, masterplanning and permitting, architecture, engineering design, sustainability and ESG work, and project management.

That model also reflects the geographic expansion of Europe’s data-centre market. Operators are no longer concentrating development solely in Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, Paris, and Dublin. Projects are moving into Nordic markets, southern Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, and secondary German and UK locations, each with different planning systems, utility relationships, environmental requirements, and construction markets.

Local permitting capability therefore becomes commercially important alongside engineering scale. Hyceon says its teams operate in local languages and regulatory frameworks while applying common group standards across jurisdictions.

The combined practice also arrives as the technical content of data-centre design is changing. High-density AI systems are increasing demand for liquid cooling and heavier electrical distribution, while sustainability reporting, water use, heat reuse, and grid constraints are adding new requirements around site selection and mechanical plant.

For design and engineering groups, those pressures create an incentive to combine disciplines and expand geographically. The same operator may want a common campus template across several countries, but the power, permitting, construction, and environmental conditions can differ sharply between sites.

Hyceon’s launch therefore represents more than a rebrand of two professional-services businesses. It is another sign that the supply chain around European data-centre construction is consolidating and scaling alongside the facilities it is being asked to design.
